The Other KDM Intimacy Miniature: Intimacy Male (Painted Mid Dec, 18)

So if you read my previous post, then this next one comes as no surprise. I painted my Intimacy Female Miniature in the likeliness of my better half and so it stands to reason that the male should look like me. Apologies beforehand, everyone.

Oh, and since this is essentially an extension of the previous blog post, I won't be adding too much to the conversation.

Like the Intimacy Female, I modeled the Intimacy Male on something other than the artist vision. I like green, I've got brown hair, and I'm white, so that's what I went off of. Easy.

There really wasn't any new direction that I was going for with this paint session other than choosing my own color scheme. I primarily focused on detailed work (although, I see now that I accidentally got some red on the green cloth). Personally my favorite color is green so that's why the Intimacy Male is draped in green. I do wish I had olive drab paint hues though. I also wanted to add good shading and highlighting effects while trying to say minimalist.

Here's a lovely side picture with a better view of my painting boo-boo. Also, like the Intimacy Female miniature, I wanted to freehand the base. I stayed with the heart theme, but this time I decided on detailing it with bleeding stab wounds. Thinking back on it, this may lead to some unintended connotations.

This was a pretty simple project, but in the end, I find myself very proud of the outcome of both miniatures. There is a notable difference in quality since I first started with the Percival miniature. For example, the detail on the lanterns is the best that I've done yet. Also the sword actually looks good(ish). Also, the eyes are the best I've done, apart from the anime style.

So once again, I hope that this showcase is enjoyed by all whom read it. Please, please feel free share any comments or critiques. If you find my blog enjoyable, be sure to follow and subscribe. Not sure what either do but should be fun either way.

Thanks much!

  1. I'm not sure what paints you have, but olive drab is pretty hard to create.
For fun or your next project, try experimenting with moving greens yellows and grays. Brownish or yellowish grays would work too.
This video is an interesting watch but Andy doesn't use any paints.

    Have fun experimenting!
