Yet Another Allison Twilight Knight Miniature: Halloween Special Pinup Twilight Knight (Painted Early Nov, 18)
Last Halloween, the Kingdom Death Shop had a special sale that included Halloween themed miniatures. I thought this was cool; the miniatures that were being sold had cool promo gear to go along with KDM, and so I got a few of them, including the Halloween Special Pinup Twilight Knight.
I made the purchase late October and had to wait about 14 days till the order was even fulfilled. Lon story short, I didn't get a chance to start painting this version of Allison until late October, 2018.
As always, I wanted to stay true to the art direction, or at least the central color palette theme. With this one, I wanted to focus on going a bit darker with the base skin tone so that I had more to work with when it came to highlights later on. I went light with air-brushing highlights given the darker palette.
I put a bit of extra focus on the base, given that many of the miniatures from KDM are presented on bare bases. Other painted examples that I've seen online had a darker palette range, so with mine, I wanted to go a bit brighter. The pumpkin base was done with the standard orange paint that I used for much of the miniature. Then I created a yellow wash to fill the gaps of the pumpkin to represent a lit jack-o-lantern. Then I used lighter peach hues to dry-brush the base to further add to the lightness. If you look carefully, the surrounding rock faces that ring the pumpkin also have the yellow wash effect around them. I think it came out fairly well, although going forward, I'll want to do more directional shading and highlighting to accent light sources.
I wanted to give more attention to the sword carried by Allison this time around since there's already a lot of detail with the item. I went with red for the cloth, while giving a dark red wash for the shadowing and a lighter red dry-brush effect for the highlights. I painted the whole blade using silver metallic paint, then afterwards I used the orange paint again to clover the center of the blade. Unfortunately the picture doesn't show this detail too well. Still learning.
This makes 3 Twilight Knight miniatures painted. I'm not sure how many other variants there are available but I'm enjoying all that I've got so far. Hopefully I'll have another painted soon and posted on this site.

I'm pretty proud of this one overall. Still need to up my abilities when it comes to facial detail. Luckily I've begun to do this with miniatures that I've painted since this, and I look forward to showcasing them soon. Of course, I hope that this showcase is enjoyed and please feel free share any comments or critiques. As always, if you find my blog enjoyable, be sure to follow or subscribe.
